I decided to write my thoughts about a recent painting I made and had shared on most of my social media profiles. I have been blessed to receive so many amazing comments from my friends, family and blog readers. I want to reach out and say a big thank you for all the love and support I have received for it.
This painting was a part of a competition I took part in hosted by the Sri Annai Kamakshi Music and Fine Arts College, India. This is an international online music and fine arts competition. I rarely take part in any art competitions, but I made an exception this time during the times of COVID-19. I wanted a unique, artistic challenge for myself, since I have had the chance to spend so much time at home.
The topic for the competition was “MY PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE”
I had to spend some thinking from where I could draw inspiration for this painting. I admire surreal art because it always fills my soul with so much positivity. So in the process of idea generation, I did think of a few concepts, however I wanted my idea to be conveyed very clearly. I was sure about the fact that I didn’t want my painting to be something common such as reflecting a moment from my past and present or showing something very futuristic like flying cars. From there I went on to just thinking of the basics and asked myself,
“What can I do, which is simple but significant and doesn’t have to use memories to define the art?”
With a lot of brainstorming from there on, I arrived at a concept I loved which was the human eye. The human eyes are one of the most expressive parts of the body and can express a huge range of emotions without any visual or verbal display. With this being my concept, I worked my way from there and created three different emotions with. the eyes. I further added color psychology to represent the mood of each stage with the eyes.
Pink: which stands for feminity, romance and playfulness.
Yellow: which is all about a meditative, peaceful state of mind and staying relaxed in the present
Orange: which stands for optimism, cheerfulness and positivity for the future.
I’m also going to take this chance to add in a picture i clicked of the painting while it was in the making as well as my final submission!

Lots of Love,
